Supporting our Immune System During Coronavirus

You’re probably thinking should I freak out about this virus as much as the media portrays it ? Probably not . There has been so much unnecessary fear mongering and lack of information and facts . In the health and nutrition field I’m pretty more concerned about the epidemic of chronic disease. There are a few recommendations and precautions you can take but I would first worry less because the stress will only get you more sick . Taking steps at increasing prevention of germs will benefit you by giving you calm and practical advice that will ease your stress .

I mean come on people stopped buying corona beer its a little ridiculous how media has frightened us to a point where science and real facts dont matter. 1.6 million die every year in China from respiratory infections. News channels are more worried about headlines than presenting facts and giving us beneficial advice. There are trillions of viruses and bacteria that spread and are in our intestines these brand new viruses (well not really new) like the coronavirus are the highlight but lets forget about all the viruses and bacteria this week because this week our plan is to ONLY focus on one I mean come on it makes no sense.

Early signs of the virus mimic symptoms as cold and flu presenting with cough and fever. Deficiencies and immunocompromised individuals have increased chances of contracting ANY virus not just coronavirus so it’s important to support our immune system.

IMMUNE SUPPORT

  1. Wash your hands . Don’t touch face , eyes , nose and mouth.

  2. Boost your immune system with a healthy diet , sleep , reduce sugar , get fresh air and stay hydrated .

  3. Immune supportive vitamins include Vitamin D; About 20% of adults are at high risk for Vitamin D deficiency: especially those who are obese, pregnant, shut-in, avoid the sun, have dark skin, are senior, live far from the equator, or need to deal with an illness, injury, or surgery. They need at least 2 times more Vitamin D (1),

  4. Magnesium- Salt baths, supplementation will help detox pathways (3)

  5. Probiotics.(7)

Additional Supplements: Vitamin A , Zinc , Selenium, Glutathione and Colloidal Silver, elderberry(4) ,vitamin C (2)

Many people ask about zinc and colloidal silver and in my opinion should be used with caution. Zinc and copper ratio should be carefully evaluated. Colloidal Silver can interfere with medications just like many supplements and most supplements should be evaluated by a health professional.

Dosages are not an exact science for it varies so much from person to person and from one medical situation to another. Weight differences need to be estimated in. Consult with your doctor. Someone with coronavirus, or grave flu who is badly ill, need much higher dosages than when we are working to prevent these infections. When taking something for the first time, you need to start with a minimum dose, like you would putting your toes in the water to check the temperature

All in all a healthy gut supports a healthy immune system

  1. Travel with disinfectant wipes to wipe down carts , handles etc.

  2. Sun exposure- when it shines sun rays strengthen the defense system get out more in the sun.

ANTI VIRAL HERBS

1. Oregano - anti viral , anti microbial , anti bacterial:

contains carvacrol and thymol, that have powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. It’s the carvacrol that reverses and reduces viral infections, as well as allergies, tumors, parasites and disease-causing inflammation. *6

2. Echinacea-contains a compound called echinacein that inhibits bacteria and viruses from penetrating healthy cells, boost immunity , anti inflammatory and reduces the excess secretion of mucus.
